Did some drawing during my weekend illness and came up with this for my tiki book. I’d been kicking around the idea of a cliffside hut perched on a downed tree, but here it is for the first time in a more acceptable form. The layout’s a little clumsy - we could use a stronger silhouette - and I’d like to see some characters in there for scale.
Frequent riders of Splash Mountain might see a similarity in the little ladder hanging from the tree. Frequent wanderers on the old narrow gauge trail behind my house might recognize the downed tree with the rock stuck in the roots.
But really, why are you wandering around behind my house?
MONSTERS ROUND 2 (Electric Boogaloo)
I can’t wait until these are colored. Here are my most recent 91 tikis! These will be on the end pages of The Lost Tikis when it’s finally done (and they serve as a great little visual development exercise)!
TIKIS!
This page, originally titled 50 tikis, has continued to spin wildly out of control. My plan was always to make the end pages of my new book a WALL of tiki. But after I drew the first couple dozen, it became clear that I needed more. WAY more.
I was already at 98 tikis before this weekend. After a family road trip to Connecticut, I busted out a few more sketches. Here are 24 more tikis, inked, but not colored. 59 more are drawn and not inked. I’m now setting my sights on 200 (maybe 250?) tikis!
This is going to make such a fun poster!
